Make the terms make sense

Look up a word from a quote, a care page, or an insurance reply.

A short term versus a useful question

Copay

This is your share of a bill under a coverage arrangement. Ask whether the quoted amount is your medicine payment or a separate care charge.

Use it in a question

Ask how that term applies to the exact product or charge being proposed.

A familiar word can still have a specific meaning on a bill.

Look up a term

All terms are shown.

Active ingredient
The part meant to do a medicine’s work is its active ingredient.
Compounding
With compounding, the medicine is prepared to order; it is different from supplying a finished product that has approval.

A plan uses prior authorization to approve payment before paying for a medicine it covers.
Self-pay
Self-pay is a price paid outside insurance; it does not count toward the plan’s deductible.
Telehealth
